Types of Grants You Can Apply For
Solar PV (Photovoltaic) Grant
Up to €1,800
Solar Thermal Grant
Up to €1,200
These grants are available to homeowners and private landlords whose properties were built and occupied before December 31, 2020.
If your property's electricity MPRN hasn’t previously received SEAI funding, you're likely eligible to apply.
How Much Funding Can You Receive?
The amount you receive for solar PV depends on the system’s size. Here’s a breakdown:
1 kWp System
€700 Grant
2 kWp System
€1,400 Grant
3 kWp System
€1,600 Grant
4 kWp System
€1,800 Grant (Maximum)
Important: Once your application is approved, you'll have eight months to complete the installation and submit proof of works. Missing this deadline may result in losing the grant.
How to Apply for the SEAI Solar PV Grant
Choose an SEAI-registered solar installer.
Submit your grant application through the SEAI website.
Wait for approval before any work begins.
Your installer will apply to ESB Networks on your behalf.
After installation, schedule a post-installation BER assessment.
The installer submits final documentation to SEAI.
Grant payment is usually issued within six weeks of approval.
